Forbury Gardens Sat 20th June
The team at Reading Refugee Support Group is shocked and saddened by the tragic and senseless deaths of James Furlong, David Wails and Joe Ritchie-Bennett. We were please to attend the vigil on Saturday 27th June in Reading, our hearts go out to the friends and families and our thoughts are with anyone who has been affected by this tragedy.
RRSG has worked in Reading for over 25 years and remain committed to supporting refugees and helping them integrate into our community. People who have come to Britain as refugees will be equally horrified but sadly familiar with such violence having in many cases fled their homes faced with persecution, war, torture and conflict, looking for safety for their families.
We will mourn the loss of three people from our local community, and stand by our colleagues and the refugee community in Glasgow with the same compassion that Reading welcomes refugees and asylum seekers, as an inclusive, diverse and caring community where we are all proud to work, live and serve.
