The staff and volunteers at Reading Refugee Support Group support the spirit of the 1951 Convention on Refugees to which Britain is a signatory. We are committed to reducing the poverty, suffering and social isolation of people who have already faced unimaginable persecution and hardship. We believe in social justice, common humanity and a shared responsibility to protect and help the most vulnerable people in our society.
Our vision is for an inclusive society where refugees and asylum seekers of all cultural backgrounds are treated with the same dignity and respect that we all enjoy; where their essential needs are met; and where they are entitled, enabled and confident to engage with and benefit from the wider community.
RRSG has OISC accredited volunteer caseworkers who run drop in advice sessions on Mondays and client appointments Tuesday – Thursday. Please see our services page for further details.
We also run English classes, children’s homework club and participate and contribute to various cultural events throughout the year.
